Dr. Steven R. Ballard, M.D. brings over 15 years of experience in pediatric ophthalmology to Las Vegas, Nevada. He is a board-certified, fellowship trained Pediatric Ophthalmologist specializing in comprehensive pediatric ophthalmic and surgical care, with a focus on the surgical management of Pediatric and Adult Strabismus, as well as Pediatric Anterior Segment, Eyelid, Orbit, and Nasolacrimal Duct Procedures. He also has extensive expertise in advanced refractive procedures, including LASIK, PRK, and SMILE.
He earned his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and his Doctor of Medicine from the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed his Ophthalmology residency at the University of Tennessee in Memphis and attained AAPOS fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
During his distinguished military career, Dr. Ballard served as Chief of Ophthalmology Services at Irwin Army Community Hospital in Kansas, Womack Army Medical Center in North Carolina, and Evans Army Community Hospital in Colorado. He established robust pediatric ophthalmology practices at the last two locations and was honored to serve as the primary strabismus surgeon for the United States Air Force Academy over the past decade. He recently retired as a Colonel from the United States Army with over 25 years of service.
Following his active-duty service, Dr. Ballard and his family relocated to Las Vegas, where he is proud to bring his experience, compassion, and commitment to excellence in pediatric eye care and adult strabismus to the local community. Outside the office, Dr. Ballard loves spending time with his wife and five children, running, hiking, travelling, and sharing in their musical theater talents.
Dr. Ballard is a member in full standing with American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Society of Military Ophthalmologists.
